When you think of yourself, what nationality do you most identify with and why is that?

Constantly treading the line between African-American & American-African. Two sides of the same coin.

What do you struggle with in the context of your American identity?

Tradition vs. Idealism

What most excites you about America or being an American?

Choice(s).

If you could change one thing about how you are seen by the world (friends, family, strangers), what would it be? What is important about that?

The negative implications that come with dark skin. I don’t feel ugly or unfortunate that this is what I was given. And I am certainly not more dangerous because my skin is darker. That is just not a sensible or thought out connection. Really think about that. So important because when you are automatically deemed dangerous, you are always in danger.

Bolder and more unbothered than the year before
